Solar Panels On An RV? What’s In It For Me?

By March 6, 2019March 22nd, 2021No Comments

I saw Solar Panels on an RV, but what’s in it for me?

I see lots of people getting Solar Panels put on their RV, and I’m curious if I should have them too?

To decide if they are right for you or not, let’s skip all the Technical Information for now and get right to some of the benefits and conveniences we hear about from people that actually use them. In asking our Employees (as we are also RV’ers ourselves) and some of our Customers, I’ve compiled a short list of the benefits they have mentioned. See if any of these would be beneficial to the way you like to RV, and then you can decide if adding Solar Panels to your RV (Trailer or Motorhome) is something you want to explore a little further.

Feedback from Solar Panel Users:

– I especially use them Early and Late in the Season, because I tend to use my Furnace more in the evening. So During the day the Solar Panels charge up my batteries so I have enough power to run the Furnace through the night.

– They have been great for me, because I often pick up my unit from the Storage lot for short trips to the mountains. The Solar Panels keep the batteries charged up between trips so I don’t have to rely (hope) my batteries will get a full charge from my vehicle, during the short towing trips. ( I’m often not driving long enough to do so. )

– I had an Invertor installed along with the Solar Panels, so I am self-sufficient and able to run my coffee maker, watch TV and use the Microwave without a power campsite.

– I like the fact that once it was installed for me, it’s been virtually maintenance free.

– My Solar Panel System has been a great substitution for the noisy (and smelly) Generator I used to use. ( many campgrounds also have restricted times on generator use.)

This is just a short list of the benefits to having a Solar Package installed on your RV. Ultimately, whether it’s worth the investment (or not) to have them as part of your camping experience, I would recommend giving us a call to discuss the way you like to RV and Camp. Then we can give you some options and pricing to consider ( at no-obligation ) that is tailored to your personal RVing Lifestyle.
